Do not try to save the whole world or do anything grandiose. Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life and wait there,  patiently, until the song that is your life falls into your own cupped hands and you recognize and greet it. Only then will you know how to give yourself to this world so worth of rescue.

 Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its' arms towards perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the  dreary sand of dead habit; Where the mind is led forth by Thee into  ever-widening thought and action- Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

I look at the world From awakened eyes in a black face- And this is what I see: This fenced-off narrow space Assigned to me. I look then at the silly walls Through dark eyes in a dark face- And this is what I know: That all these walls oppression builds Will have to go! I look at my own body With eyes no longer blind- And I see that my own hands can make The world that's in my mind. The let us hurry, comrades, The road to find.

I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was duty. I worked - and behold, duty was joy.

I would it were possible to state in so few words my errand in the world: quite simply forestalling all inquiry, the oak offers his leaves large handedly. And in winter his integral magnificent order decries, says solemnly who he is in the great thirsting limbs that are all finally one: a return, a permanent river and sea. So the rose is its own credential, a certain unattainable effortless form:wearing its' heart visibly, it gives us he art too: bud, fullness, and fall.

Whereas the world is a house on fire, Whereas the nations are filled with shouting, Whereas hope seems small, sometimes    a single bird on a wire    left by migration behind. Whereas kindness is seldom in the news    and peace an abstraction   while war is real; Whereas words are all I have, Whereas my life is short, Whereas I am afraid; Whereas I am free- despite all    fire and anger and fear; Be it therefore resolved a song    shall be my calling - a song    not yet made shall be vocation    and peaceful words the work    of my remaining days.

Our understandable wish to preserve the planet must somehow be reduced to the scale of our competence. Love is never abstract. It does not adhere to the universe to the planet or the nation or the institution or the profession, but to the singular sparrows of the street, the lilies of the field, "the least of these my brethren." Love this miraculous world that we did not make, that is a gift to us.

The mystic says not "Listen to what I have experienced" but rather  "Look what Love has done to me"

Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which to look out Christ's compassion to the world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about  doing good; Yours are the hands with which he is to bless men now.
